WHAT IS THE MARAHUYO GALIREYA?

In this space, the Marahuyo Galireya will make you experience the rich culture of the Kalinga, a chance to walk you through the exceptional beauty of its traditions and expressions that made history representing the uniqueness of the country.

 

Most importantly, the Marahuyo Galireya proudly dedicates the well-preserved virtual exhibit to the Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan Awardee, Alonzo Saclag. Relish the chronicled journey of Alonzo Saclag as he made exceptional efforts to preserve and nurture the exceptional Kalinga culture.

The term "marahuyo" is one of the oldest figurative words in the Philippines. The word is uncommon to understand, yet it adds to the intrigue or mystery of the captivating meaning behind it. The root words "rahuyo" or "dahuyo" is the source of the term "marahuyo" which  translates to "to be enchanted" in English. The term “enchant” means to be enthralled by someone, something, or any concept, and it devotedly represents our genuine admiration and gratitude for Alonzo Saclag. The Marahuyo Preservers have come to share the enthusiasm we obtained from studying the exceptional story of Alonzo Saclag with the rest of the world. May this exhibit serve as a bridge for the modern generation to recognize an important aspect of Philippine history that must never be forgotten.
